Joseph F. Desmond

Senior Vice President, Government Affairs and Communications for Brightsource Energy

Joseph F. Desmond has been one of our directors since January 2007.  Mr. Desmond has been the Senior Vice President, Government Affairs and Communications since August, 2011 for Brightsource Energy, a developer of solar thermal systems.  Prior to this, from August 2010 to July 2011, Mr. Desmond was the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer for Ice Energy, a developer of energy storage technologies.  From November 2006 to August 2010 he was the Senior Vice President of External Affairs for NorthernStar Natural Gas, a developer of liquefied natural gas import terminals.  From May 2005 until November 2006, Mr. Desmond served as the Chairman of the California Energy Commission.  From May 2006 to November 2006 Mr. Desmond also served as the Under Secretary for Energy Affairs in the California Resources Agency.  Prior to his public service for the State of California, Mr. Desmond served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Infotility, Inc., an energy consulting and software development firm based in Boulder, Colorado.  From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Desmond was President and Chief Executive Officer of Electronic Lighting, Inc., a manufacturer of controllable lighting systems, and from 1991 to 1997 he was with Parke Industries, where he served as Vice President.
