The Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, headquarters for county’s municipal government, underwent a major lighting retrofit of the 10-Story, 980,000 square-foot building. Resulting in a 77% reduction in lighting energy consumption. Nearly 24,000 T8 lamps were installed, along with 20,00 ballasts. The retrofit both improved building occupants’ and lowered HVAC requirements. Motion detectors, low voltage wiring, and zoned lighting controls were installed throughout the building to maximize the efficiency of the new lighting system. The control system was programmed to turn lights off at predetermined times based on occupancy and usage. Each zone is equipped with an override switch so lighting can be restored as needed.
