Lighting and Controls Upgrades at AMF Locations Nationwide
AMF
National
Lime Energy was selected by AMF to perform lighting upgrades at 286 locations throughout 36 states.
After successful project installations, AMF teamed with Lime again to install controls systems throughout 105 bowling centers, with more to come.
“When we initially partnered with Lime Energy in 2009, it was to complete an energy efficient lighting retrofit at all of our bowling centers. The result was fabulous! We set what we believed were aggressive payback targets, and Lime helped us over-achieve against them. During 2010 we decided to accept Lime's recommendation to install building automation EMS in many of our bowling centers. Control over HVAC set-points, operational schedules and night-time set-backs is expected to bring very significant savings to what is our biggest operating expense after labor. Going forward, we're already working closely with Lime on extracting energy efficiencies from parking lot lighting, LED interior lighting and replacement HVAC units." - Simon Shearer, Senior Vice President, Facilities & Design, AMF
DETAILS
Initially, AMF looked to Lime Energy to upgrade the lighting systems throughout all of their locations nationwide in an effort to make their sites more efficient and save operational costs. After the successful upgrade of 286 locations, Lime proposed additional ways for AMF to cut energy bills and improve management of their sites.
105 Energy Management Systems were installed, with more to come. The EMS systems allow for control of HVAC, interior and exterior lighting, as well as arcade area lighting, and monitoring of refrigeration systems.
While each individual has access to some control of the EMS, Lime Energy is ultimately managing schedules, set points, and conditions to ensure for the maximum energy savings.
Both the lighting upgrades and the controls systems average a payback of under 2 years. Lime also worked with 40 utilities throughout the 36 states to secure all available rebates for AMF.
